In Dongtou County, a ship sailing from Wenzhou to Shanghai was unfortunately sunk on the surface of Wusong Sea because of the termite infestation on the ship's deck. In September 1998, on a special railway line of a group company in Hubei Province, it was found that many sleepers had been seriously eroded by milktermites. The special railway line was laid in November 1994. Among them, 350 meters were wooden sleepers, totaling 700, and 179 had been seriously eroded by termites. In June 1995, in Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, termite gnawed the output cables of the distribution room of the bridge, causing the interruption of signal and lighting, and affecting the operation of vehicles.
